How we got here

Something changed in us during our time in Ireland. Surrounded by churches and stunning mountains, we felt closer to God.

Last year, Mike and Collette asked Mandy to be Carter’s Godmother, inspiring her to begin a journey toward baptism.

As members of our Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Mandy asked Reverend Craig, who agreed to perform the ceremony, even though it’s not part of our faith tradition. A small service took place in the meetinghouse using the trinitarian formula.

Later, Mari expressed interest in baptism, and we decided she should learn more about its meaning. Together, we joined religious education classes at a local Catholic church—teens for Mari and adults for Mandy. When we met Father Nicholas, he suggested convalidating our marriage in the church. We felt it was the right step.

Chris has been deeply supportive and has returned to his faith through this journey.

We are excited to share this special day with you and appreciate your support.

With love, Mandy, Chris, and Marielle

P.S. No gifts, please. This won’t replace our wedding but strengthen it. Your presence is all we need.
